米Googleは20日（現地時間）、画像加工のwebアプリ「Picnik」を含む6つのオンラインサービスを停止すると発表した。
停止されるサービスのうち、Picnikはオンラインで高度な画像編集を提供するもので、画像管理ソフト「Picasa」とも連携しており比較的に人気の高いサービス。わずか2年前に買収した事業だが、4月19日をもってサービスを終える。有料のプレミアムメンバーには料金が払い戻され、停止までの間、プレミアムの機能も無料で解放される。停止する理由について特に説明はないが、Picnikの機能のうち幾つかはGoogle+に取り込まれるため、Google+系へのサービス統合ともいえる。
その他に終了するのは、メールデータバックアップサービスのGoogle Message Continuity （GMC）、データ管理プラットホームのNeedlebase、それにSocial Graph API、Urchin、Google Sky Map。ただし、星座など天体の地図を表示するGoogle Sky Mapはオープンソース化されるという。
